Smart Custom Made Furniture
Stages for custom made smart furniture:
If it takes 500 hours to complete a project, we spend over half of that time on planning and designing decisions. Each end product is a result of cross discipline collaboration; long debates on design decisions, switching back and forth between the workshop table and drawing board.
At age 12, Kagan was playing with his own handmade wooden toy cars, sailing boats, etc. At age 16, he added remote controls to these wooden toys and learned simple electronics & coding along the way. Internet On Furniture started out in 2015 and it quickly grew from a childhood passion project to a well-established workshop. Today, our woodworking atelier joins talents of interior designers, woodworkers, mechanical, electrical and software engineers. Every project you see visiting our website starts and ends in this atelier.
Since we include movement on nearly every custom furniture we create, mechanics is an integral part of what we do. We first work on a structural model with simple wiring, motors/engines and dynamics. Once we are certain about the efficiency of the system, this model goes to our engineer for further optimization. Then, we test the mechanism in its place / custom made furniture – this is the most nerve breaking but satisfactory moments of our work.
Electronics & Coding
To control movement and light on custom made furniture that comes out from our woodworking atelier, in early stages, we tried to adapt basic Arduino elements and cards to our desired functions – baby steps. Then, Can Goktas and Goktug Goktas joined our team and with them, our perspective had entirely changed. We evolved from basic electronic functions and coding to advanced IOT (Internet Of Things). Now, we design/map our own electronic cards, control these cards on smart phone menus over Cloud and do all the necessary coding.
Where Does It Go
There is no end to experimenting - testing more. Yes, we already had never ending love and warmth of wood/woodworking. Yes, we already had flexibility and refreshing knowledge of mechanics and using that info on furniture. In time, we developed our basic coding and electronic skills to sophisticated levels. As an end product, first, we used these skills on custom-made furniture and smart phone controls on furniture. Now, we are able to control nearly everything in your house on smart phone menus. It all goes to artificial intelligence; in controlled environments, home, etc. In very near future…
